The HONOR VL-160CM In Detail

The standard HONOR VL-160CM model is the perfect vertical turning centre for any heavy-duty cutting. Capable of handling both large and high-precision tasks, the VL-160CM can handle workpieces weighing up to 22,600 lbs. But that’s not all! Here are some other key features that make the HONOR VL-160CM the ideal vertical turning centre.

A Powerful Spindle For Heavy-Duty Tasks

With spindle speeds of up to 250rpm, the VL-160CM’s spindle has the ability to cut through tough materials without compromising on precision. This means the fine details of complex designs are no problem for this vertical turning centre. Higher spindle speeds also allow for faster cutting, which can reduce machining time and lead to a more efficient process.

Automatic Lubrication System

Something that can be overlooked is the lubrication system of a lathe. Even with the best spindle speeds on the market, accurate cuts cannot be made without the application of lubrication. The VL-160CM has an automatic lubrication system that ensures ball screws are adequately lubricated, enabling this lathe to perform high-precision tasks even during heavy-duty machining.

Reduced Distortion

Imperfect and distorted products can be costly for a business. That’s why the HONOR VL-160CM has incorporated a heavily ribbed structure to minimise distortions to the product during the machining process. Thermal distortions and imperfections due to vibrations are controlled to allow for an increase in accurately cut products.

Unbeatable Clamping System

A larger clamping system enables the VL-160CM to increase stability and accuracy and reduce distortion of final products. An increased clamping force ensures the safety of employees as there is a reduced risk of the workpiece coming loose during the machining process. Additionally, heavy-duty machining can mean higher cutting forces are needed to effectively shape tough materials. This means a larger clamping force is needed to withstand the force of the spindle and ensure the workpiece stays in position.

Customisable to Suit Your Needs

At DTS, we know not every business has the same needs. That’s why we work closely with our clients to find the best vertical turning centre for them. This can sometimes mean customisations are needed so that the lathe meets the needs of a business.

The HONOR VL-160CM is perfect for customisations. Some examples of modifications include:

  • The RAM: The standard for this machine is usually 1200mm, but this can be upgraded to up to 1500mm to allow for a greater capacity to produce larger parts.
  • The Swing: The swing is the largest diameter a workpiece can be mounted onto the table. For example, although the table diameter of a VL-160CM is typically 1600, the swing of this machine can be 2m.
  • Clamping Force: Standard machines can have clamping forces of approximately 3 tonnes on the tool, but with the HONOR vertical lathe, the clamping force can be increased to 10 tonnes. This allows for bigger cuts and better machining capabilities.
  • Number of Tools: Depending on the other characteristics of the vertical lathe, such as clamping force, the number of tools can also change. With a clamping force of 10 tonnes, a range of 12 tools can be used on this machine.
  • Different Attachments: Grinding attachments can also be added to the machine to allow for internal and external grinding.
